So my default mode is to be an isolated, hermit-like homebody.  I'm trying to fight that impulse up here in Austin and actuall go out and do things, and try hard to make friends.  I do wonder if I'm being pushy and trying to hard, but knowing my inherent shyness I doubt it.

Wizard People, Dear Readers, (the MST3K-ing of Harry Potter 1) was laugh out loud funny, I was cracking out throughout most of the movie, and so was the rest of the audience.  I'm a tough crowd and don't laugh easily, so that should tell you something.  I was accompanied by Amanda, who was my date for the evening, and although we hit it off as friends there wasn't any chemistry there on either side.  It was fun none-the-less.
I wish I could have made the showing and got to go to the austinbooknerd discussion group, but they were at the same time.
The Alamo downtown was pretty cool, and they had a funny kung-fu movie playing before the main show.  Even though we got there 40 minutes early, we still ended up in the last third of the line to get in.  Everyone in the line had pre bought tickets just like us.  We did get decent seats though.

It is a one screen theater... There's always a line, no matter what, whether you pre-buy or show up at the window for tickets 20 minutes early (done both).

Subject: having nothing to do with your post,
... I've noticed that youare in Austin, Texas, and you spoke of the Alamo, so I am assuming you go to UT at Austin?

If so, You are automatically cool. I found you on the UMD community, when you posted, asking for pictures of the Jim Henson and Kermit the Frog photos... I can provide some, since I live near there, and I attend UMD anyways!

BUT, in return, I was wondering if you could do me a favor... you know those little silvery/chromed UT car emblems, in the shape of the school mascot logo silhouette?

Well I had one on my car from a recent trip to Austin with my dad to see my home state and my favorite school EVER... but it got in a car crash en route to a music festival, and the body shop lost the emblem when repainting/repairing/rebuilding the car from bumper to bumper... I was wondering if you would happen to know if the campus store still sells the silhouette version of the mascot emblem, or do they only have the one with the silhouette of a real steerhead (and not of the mascot version of a steerhead) with the word "TEXAS" above or under it...

If they have the one without the lettering (the silhouette of the logo that's on the team football helmets), would you be willing to buy one for me and send it up to Maryland, so I can make my car look nice again? I will pay you via PayPal, otherwise nevermind, because I'm too lazy to get a money order or whatever... I can give you my address via email or something, and you can IM me on my AIm account and leave a message, and I could get back to you...

when I got my car back, they told me about the loss, and it pissed me off. I hope the longhorns emblem I'm looking for isn't discontinued!!!

Just reply to this and/or hit me up on my cell phone and/or email/AIM, the details of all this contact info is in my AIM profile and LJ userinfo.

Also, you can check my user feedback rating on eBay, the user name is hungryboy5000. I hope you can help! I'm out.

I need to pick one up for my car anyway, so I'll check. No guarantees, but I'll let you know what I find out. I doubt I'll be on campus for a week or so, so it will be a few weeks.
