Not exactly a straight shot is it? I may have to ask my dad about Route 65 that seems to go the way I want from Little Rock to Baton Rouge. I'm hoping it's not some little road with stoplights in every small town. On the other hand, maybe I will go through Memphis and see Graceland.

Sometimes the backroutes through Louisiana are pains in the butt, so I'd stick with whichever is the most preferred route. I'd definitely check any website that details current construction zones on your way down... I remember my husband and I drove 59 and 26 from Shreveport to Little Rock once, and it added something ridiculous like 4 hours of travel than if we had taken I20 to Jackson (the long way back to Illinois) because the route in question had both a lot of construction, and long stretches where it was a single lane highway (btw, driving on the shoulder of a local road because it's the only way open for miles and miles= not fun).

Thanks, I've kinda decided to take the freeway since I haven't heard any good things about going the other way.
