Went to see the sinus doctor yesterday and he game me some steroid nosespray to help with my irritated turbinate (nose part). He said if it doesn't work well they can give me a pain shot and put a needle up there, run some current through, and cauterize the part that's bothering me. I'll probably go with that option as I don't want to be spraying stuff up my nose for the rest of my life.

Playing too much Planetside. Man, that game is fun. Zooming around in a Reaver attack hover plane and sending out a salvo of missles to blow people up or dogfights.
The game hums on my new system and T1 internet connection. I think I'm finally getting my money's worth out of it since I haven't really played online games since I moved there. They just put in deleting characters so now I can try to play with some PvP guys
tonight as I can restart and play the right faction on the correct server.

New Buffy Tonight! Yay. New Angel tommorrow! Yay. Cheap buffalo wings today! Yay.
I like Tuesday.

My dad got a job in Baton Rouge. Go Dad!
Layoffs here in about a month. I probably should take a vacation before then since I don't think you get to take it with you if you don't use it and get canned.
Where should I go? I hate to travel alone.

Congrats to your dad. Baton Rouge is an...interesting...city. :)

And what makes you think you're getting the boot...? Be happy, be confident, be hopeful! (Yes, this is the depressed person giving out all this "sage wisdom"...)

Of course, if you did take vacation days during early June, certain people would be in town -- and I'm positive certain people would be thrilled to see you.

Subject: Vacation Days
My situation was a little different since we filed for Chap 11, but I got the maximum allowed by the Bankruptcy court back, and could possibly (if pigs fly) get a bit more after the big fish get their cut of whatever's left.

From http://www.twc.state.tx.us/news/efte/texas_payday_law_basics.html :
Little known to many employers and employees, the TPL includes in the definition of "wages" any fringe benefits promised in a written policy of the employer or in a written agreement (section 61.001(7)(B)). The types of fringe benefits covered by that provision are vacation pay, sick leave pay, parental leave pay, holiday pay, and severance pay.

IINAL, but I read this as "vacation pay is wages, and must be paid on severance."

That's why I read your journal -- it makes me feel useful :)

Yeah, but there is a pretty decent severance package for those that get laid off and I don't think it includes vacation. But since it's much larger than the minimum I think you probably have to sign something that says you give up all the other stuff, kinda like a settlement.
