Not All Who Wander Are Lost

I went up to Austin last weekend for the MBA preview at UT. I had a very enjoyable stay with my sister, and met a few of the folks I might be going to UT with. There was alot of mix-and-mingle type events, and I must say I've only got so many hours of mix-and-mingle in me. I used it up quick, so wasn't terribly social towards the end of the days. I had a nice dinner at the Oasis, saw a bit of campus, got good BBQ, met up with BooKat and had some coffee with her and her friends, and basically just messed around.

This week I was going home to Nederland, but my Mom changed her mind so I'm still up here in Houston. I taught Eve a bit about chess the other day, and we had a nice evening together. I saw Anime and Hellboy with Rilee yesterday. Today I was suppossed to go to the Astros with Jessica, but she decided to go with Robert and canceled on me. Tomorrow I go to see the doctor about my nose and get some more pre-op stuff taken care off. Of course I'll be down in Nederland for Easter to visit with family.

Filed for unemployment Monday, and I sent out 3 resumes today so I can say I'm looking for work.

My internet was down a few days ago for about a day or so.
I may go to the firing range today and practice with my .357 magnum.

Oh, and here is where I solicit advice from you guys.
I have some time to travel, anyone have any advice where I should go.
Vegas, NYC, Ireland, and Austria are places I'm considering.

I am sorry you are aggravated.

Yes, I agree it was a very nice evening. I do indeed look forward to more chess and attempts to get you to let me cheat at chess.

Wanna play again sometime soon???

NYC is a really fun place for a weekend trip. There is so much to do in that city. I make several trips there a year and always have a blast. I am actually from NY and I can say that I haven't even seen half the city yet.

I have never been to IReland, but I am saving my money to take my mother there. I have done a lot of research on it, and another place that will keep you busy the entire time you're there.

Austria. I've been skiing in Austria and have visited in Innsbruck. It was a really nice place, but I don't know if I would plan a vacation just to Austria unless you were really into skiing. I think if I had AUstria on my itinerary, it would have to mixed in with a few other European countries.

Vegas........I long to go there myself.

There are two tricks to really enjoying Austria: have relatives there and try to speak german as much as possible.

Relatives show you all the neat places that aren't on tourist maps.
The natives love it when you try and talk. I got more help there that way than I expected.

But I'm told that Vegas is a lot more fun if you can do some gambling without feeling bad about the waste of money. =P

Why not visit both Ireland AND Austria? You can get tickets to Dublin mega cheap. Fly there (or London) and visit for a few days, then head over to Austria to say hi to the folks over there. Spend at least two days in Vienna(Brigetta knows all the cool clubs to go to, I hear :))

hmmm... depends on what kind of mood you're in. NYC is awesome. I was just there and i really enjoyed it and i was by myself most of the time so i can say from experience if you're going by yourself, it's the coolest place and easy to get around. And i agree with the other people about Austria. I also went to Innsbruck and thought it was really awesome but i didn't stay long and i would have liked to stay there longer.

Traveling again are we?

Well, it depends on how long you were planning on traveling. If you plan on two weeks or more, I'd say go to Austria, Ireland, or both. I'm sure the relatives in Austria would love to see you, but you'd have to fight Mom off if you want to go alone. :) If you're planning on a shorter trip, I'd vote for NYC. I hear Vegas is good for a few days. (I think there are some nice parks up in that general area if you want to round out the lights and gambling with some nature.) Ask Mom about that. She and Frank went there not too long ago.
